Well if there was a signed, binding, legal contract between the coach and your boyfriend stating that he needed to be paid $50 dollars for each player, than yes, each team member needs to pay up. Usually though, because your boyfriend is 17 (a minor) and so are his teammates I would assume, this type of contract or negotiation is taken care of by the parents, not the players. This is not your boyfriends responsibility. Have him take his concerns to his parents, or another parent if he isn't living with his for whatever reason. Your bf is a minor and can not be legally binded into such contract. Involve the adults!
A lot depends on what state/location you live in and more specifically where the contract or agreement was allegedly made. No legitimate company or entity doing business or offering services will allow someone under the age of 17 to enter into a contract. Additionally, if any alleged agreement/contract was made under duress, false pretenses, with either of the parties under the influence of mind altering substances, and some others, will bring an entirely new issue to surface. From what you've mentioned and the lack of an actual written and signed contract, I don't think any court will accept a case like this. I do suggest you seek legal council for protection of your boyfriend and any other party involved as well as determining if the coach has broken any local, state, or federal laws--an attorney will be able to help you with determining that. If the coach is harassing you or others, contact law enforcement to get a protective order. Take care and let us know how things go. -S

Can you sign a contract at 17?
my boyfriend is on a proffessional gaming team like I said before.
this guy coached his team I guess and supposively is saying he has my boyfriend his team recorded telling him that they would pay him $50 each for his coaching.
but my boyfriend is...
only 17 if the guy is saying that he made a contract with him than is that illegal? or what can he do in this situation, do they have to pay?
does anyone have any FACTS.
I don't need opinions.
I need facts.
