The best thing is to find out what the boy is into. A lot of pre-schoolers love Dora the Explorer, Diego, Blue's clues, Thomas the Train, etc. If you find out what his favorite shows is you can get a toy based on this. This is your best bet.
If you can't find this out beforehand my daughter really enjoyed her Elefun when she was 3 which is an elephant that blows fabric butterflies up in the air that kids catch with plastic butterfly nets. She thought it was fun and of course it helped develop hand-eye coordination.

Present for a 3 year old boy?
I am going to see a friend of mine,who is seperated from his wife at the moment. He has his 3 year old son with him... I would like to bring something small for his son when I go to see them, maybe a toy..anything really I just don't want to go empty...
