Giving up smoking can be hard but the trick is never to give up giving up. A lot of smokers don't suceed their first times and get discouraged but you have to just keep on trying. It helps if you have a lot of resolve and make a list of all the reasons you want to stop. It also helps to have a non smoking partner like a good friend who you can call when you are feeling weak, that way they can encourage you. It helps if you plan a date and stick to it. Drinking water, chewing gum or sugar free candy, doing excercise: all help to control the cravings. It only takes a few weeks for your body to completly eliminate all the nicotine and other chemicals that are found in cigarettes after that it gets easier. Some people try to reduce the amount they smoke before going cold turkey but in the end you just have be really determined. People's stories of quittig are all different some found it easy, some had to try up to 7 times before quitting. My best advice is don't give up trying, try to reduce your bad habit to a minimum and get support from your peers. I also suggest to do a google search with the words stop smoking or quit smoking, you'll find tons of advice and ressources on the web.
