What meds can pregnant women take when they're sick?

Well, My Sister Is about 8-12 weeks pregnant and she has caught a cold, she doesn't wan't to take any medication to harm the baby, she wants to know what is safe to take to get rid of her cough. Can't anyone help me out !!

Have her contact her OB/GYN or PCP--because he or she is familiar with your sisters health status, the doctor will be able to help her out. I would recommend avoiding over-the-counter products before she speaks with a health professional/medical doctor--some meds can be harmful to the fetus. (Certain meds can be helpful to some while others may have to avoid them altogether--it really depends on a persons current medical status.) Hope this helps. -S
