Pregnancy tests are about 99.9% accurate, depending on when you take them. What the 'pee stick' test does is measure the presence of a hormone your body produces when you're pregnant.
These tests are recommended to be taken 2-3 days before your period is due, and this is the earliest you are likely to get the most accurate result. However, taking one slightly earlier, like, around 10 days earlier is fine, and will usually give you an accurate result. Once the implantation has occurred, the body starts producing the hormone.
The most accurate form of test though is a blood test from your doctor.
