um, because most of them are government planned and others are planned by the actual companies.

So everyone can conserve by waiting until later to start up the washer and dryer. The sales of power (electricity) is a weird business, higher demands = lower profits for utilities so they want us to conserve during times of high demand, like heat waves when everyone cranks up the air conditioner.

even though the people experiancing the 'black out' haven't got tv, if I knew my mum was affected I'd go round there with a flask of tea...(how very british lol!)
