Tips on how to make the poof stay?

I have been trying to do my hair like this picture but I can never do it. I just want a litte poof thing in my hair when I have a ponytail but my hair is so thick and long that is never stays. I have tried teasing the sh*t out of it but it still falls flat. Does anyone have any tips on how to make the poof stay?

I think I know what your talking about. first hair spray the top part thats going to be your poof then back comb it... it hurts a bit but it looks good. Then after brush it out a bit and out and put it in a ponytail hopefully this helps

try buting it a bit higher up on your head then if that dont work try using less hair in the poof part

just keep experimenting with the tease, you'll get it eventually. remember, it works better if you do it in small sections at a time. just tease it to a giant rats nest, hairspray it, then come the top of it out and smooth only the top out, so that most of the rats nest is still hidden underneath. don't try and smooth/ comb out the whole tease because,well then you'd lose the poof.

Its not all that hard. I use to struggle with it. I usually comb down the part that's going to be the poof then put my hair in a pony tail. Then I just flip the part for the poof and put booby pins in
