Say the i love you stuff to mess with me head

This man I have been seeing for three months then we broke up and now were just starting to talk and hang out agian. A few months ago I asked him if he ever really did love me when we were going out or if he just said that, he said he just said that.but...

going back and thinking I always told him that I never wanted to fall in love with any one and I dont like using the whole love word he said okay when we first started going out. I had even told him even if he just wanted to stay friends or stay going out I wouldent care if he was just datting me so I would put out because I was not looking for any thing too serious. Then he always told said to me, I know you love me by the way you look at me well I just use to laugh it off . Then he said he loved me so I started falling for him . Now he's telling me he use to just say the I love you stuff to mess with me head is it just me or is he lying if so why ?

its hard to say...some guys will just say it...others may think they are in love and all the sudden think they arent...or he could just be too embarassed to admitt he really did love u...or he could b saying that so you do fall in love with him bc he does love u...love is a very confusing thing
