lets see I really would like to have my upper cartilage pierced but my parents are so against me getting them peirced so I cant go to the professionals, so I was thinking about doing it myself, buy im afraid that it'll get infected or it wont look right or I'll hit a nerve and I'll lose sensitivity in my ear! but is that true that you could hit a nerve in your ear and lose sensitiveity in it?
if I use the cleaning alchohol on the earings, adn my ear before I pierce it through will it get infected, I mean every other time I've gotten it done thats what the professionals do well and I haev to put some of it on every other day, but I dont see why anyone cant pierce their ears for free!

parents know best (usually) just DON'T DO IT YOURSELF! if you do it urself you got a high chance of getting a horrible disease and dying. lol! anyways they'll notice and get ANGRY if you do it. because you got to leave it in for weeks before you can take it out and put it back in.

Very unwise, maybe even dangerous - plus you'd still be going against your parents wishes...Take care !!

You -could- pierce your own ears but I really wouldn't recommend it - especially with cartilage.

You should see a professional to get your cartilage pierced. It costs about $35 you can get it done at any tattoo parlor. If you go somewhere(like Claires or Wal-Mart) that uses guns, the gun could shatter your cartilage. You should get one side done at a time, it'll be way too painful to sleep on them. You have to leave it in for 8-12 weeks, the longer the better and then after that you can change the earrings but avoid keeping the earring out for long periods of time until you have had it pierced for a year. Be aware that cartilage takes a long time to FULLY heal depending on the person.

I'm in the same place you are. I tried doing it once and got it through a litlle but thans topped. What you do is get a friend you trust to do it. And make sure you put the needle in soem fire than clean it wiht rubbing alchole. make sured its a thick needle. and there is always a chance it will get infeceted

DONT PIERCE YOUR OWN CARTILAGE!!
sooo many bad thiings could end up happining to you..
I think its fine if you do the lower part..because I did that myself..but umm yea you CAN pinch or hit a nerve and..acually lose feeling from it.
its just better to talk your parents into it and get it done professionally.

Just get it done at Wal-Mart! It's that easy! They have one in like every freaking city!

We don't have Wal-Mart here. ^

Anywho... I know a girl who pierced the top of her ear herself. It turned out fine but there are obvious risks to it. She just happened to be lucky.
There are some stories I've heard about people piercing their own ears. One guy had sight problems after piercing the top of his ear. Not sure if this is true though.

I'd wait until you can get a professional piercing without your parents' permission.

You should probably wait until you parents give you the okay. Although I've pierced my own cartilage twice and nothing bad has happened to me I promise. Just make sure you clean it well, and use a sterile needle. And be sure not to touch it without washing your hands first once you pierce it. Take care hunny.

ok if you realy want to pierce your ears id recommend to get a friend to help you. cause my friend tried doing hers by herself and got scared so she got me to go the for her.
steps:
1. get ice and leave it on you ears for as long as it takes for the ear to become numb.
2. while your icing you ear get your mate to sterlize everything (studes, sewing needle or earring) in perxiod, fire and aclchol
3. take the ice of and make a dot with a pen on your ear
of were you want the peircing to be.
4. countionu to ice
5. if you are using an earing get a nail file a sharpen the earring.
6. once your ear is numb, lay on a bed or sit on a chair and look in the oppisite direction to the needle.
7. have a slice of apple behind your ear so the needle doesnt go to your head.
8. get you friend to count to three or get them to get you to take 3 deep breaths and when you exhale on the 3rd breath get them to put the needle through your ear.
9. leave the needle in your ear for about 5-10 mins and the get your friend to pull it out and replace it.
10. do the same with the oppisite ear.
11. wash your ear and dont touch it
12. it may fell hot or funny but that is all normal.

gud luck and juct do it its onley a piercing
it doesnt hurt trust me

I pierced my ear lobe a few days ago, and it's fine. I've also had to re-open the hole in my ear lobe too. Do not do your cartilage on your own. I have heard you can hit some pretty bad nerves, and I've also heard your ear can possibly even collapse. It's not a very good thing to do. I'd say you can pierce your lobe by yourself, but make sure you think about it, and be cautious. If you're not careful, anything can get infected with piercing. If I were you I'd seriously wait until your parents approved or until you're old enough to get the cartilage pierced yourself. I'd say waiting awhile would be better, and in the long run cheaper than hitting a nerve and having to get surgery.
Be careful, and use sterile piercing needles, jewelry, and just wash your piercing well.
