How long until washing hair after a perm?

how long after a perm can you wet and wash your hair

When I got my hair permed she told me to wait 48 hours to shampoo and condition it. She also said that if you want to wet it with just water it should be fine.

I've sometimes washed mine the very same day and nothing bad happened.

Ditto the 48 hrs answer, sometimes if you don't have a good solution on your hair for the perm washing to soon will cause your perm to go flat. Also don't pull your hair after you have washed it causes breaking or split ends use a wide brush or comb with wide teeth. Fingers to run thru your hair to untangle works also.
