My period is very irregular, should i see a doctor?

I started my period in the summer of 2006 I think when I was 13. Now it is summer of 2009 and they still are VERY irregular. Like sometimes I wont have one for 4 months.
I am nearly 16 btw.

Is this normal
should I go get some advice from the doctours?

Wow, I was 12 when I got my period[I am 14 now]Anyway, Just the past year I went to my school nurse to get shots for Hs. and on the paper it asked when did I get my last period, And So I left it blank she questioned me about it and I told her how super irregualr I am,[I won't get my period ofr 3-5 mnths] and she said it's pretty normal for my age then I asked: At what age should I get regular normal flows and she said around 18-20 and if your still irregular by that time I should Consult a doctor about it, but knowing were two very two different people maybe you should consult a doctor JUST to be sure. hope this helped and made you feel a bit better

thats same as me, well im 16 now and I started at 12, and im irregular sometimes like I've gone a time not having one for 4 months aswel, but they started going normal, but now im like a month late :\

Why not get a check up to make sure? It's not uncommon for your period to be irregular for even up to 5 years before evening out. But I'd still say it's worth it to go see a doctor.
