People fearing snakes

Is there a name for people fearing snakes? Snakeophobic?

Its called Ophidiophobia.

I don't understand why people are scared of them, I own a red rat snake and I used to own a python (and a rattlesnake though I couldn't touch it!. lol) and they were all very sweet.

A phobia is a persistent, irrational fear of a specific object, activity, or situation that leads to a compelling desire to avoid it; they can't help being scared of what they have a phobia of.

well evolutionarily, phobias of snakes makes more sense than a lot of other phobias... a lot of snakes are poisonous and people can die...
