You dog may have lost some control over its bladder function in the same way that some elderly humans do.
I would suggest that you get him/her checked out by the doggy doc/vet.
Yes...take him to the vet...there might be something he can take that will help him regain control. Just like in elderly men, the protate enlarges putting pressure on the bladder and then leakage occurs.
They also make 'belly bands' for male dogs with this problem (or you could make it yourself)...it holds a pad to catch the pee.

my dog reach 14 years... first he keeps on peeing then he lost he's fur, next week he can't return 2 his home, (alzimers in human) , lost his sight, can't stand up... and didnt make it... I miss my dog...
its might not be because he(she) is old all you have to do is get folex, and clean the mess then get the stuff kids use for cleaning there earings
There are meds as phrannie said that can be given to an older dog to help with this problem. He also may be trying to tell you he has a bladder infection.
