I haven't got the chance to ask people, but I think our purpose is to improve, not just the world, but each other, and show what G-d can really do.

Why does the world or our existence have to have a purpose?

My research indicates that our original purpose was to be part of God's 'host' (labor force). I have found hints but nothing concrete as to what that might have been. To me the Bible is an account of what went wrong. Im not sure we have a 'true' purpose anymore, other than to survive this mess.

I believe that God gave the earth over into mans hands, from creation, to now. I believe that he truly wants us to see what things are like without him. Man can only do so much, even though he thinks he is all powerful. When God moves, man becomes as nothing. We can't even fathom his power, or his holiness for that matter. Daily, we grow weaker, but wiser, just as the bible says, and we think we have everything under our control... but, then God steps in , and we realize how very weak and needy we truly are, without him. When God is the center of our world, we have a purpose and we know exactly what that purpose is, when he is not, many of us find no meaning or purpose at all for our lives. Multitudes floundering with no real reason to go on, without any meaning to life. Without any purpose or so they think.
When one truly comes to God, seeking his will for their lives, willing to surrender their life, over to him, to allow him to fill them, with his spirit, with his power, and his direction, then life takes on a whole new meaning. All of a sudden, new life springs up, new hope is born, freedom is felt, perhaps for the first time, and everything takes on new meaning. Life all of a sudden, does have meaning and purpose, and direction, and one feels complete, knowing that they truly have found the reason why they were created in the beginning. I pray that new life for everyone that truly desires it. Jesus said that when we seek him with our whole heart, we will find him, and he is the way , the truth and the light. No one comes to the Father, except thru him. He is the door. In him is the light and the life of men.

The purpose of our existence is to live in harmony with our environment, something MAN has a lot to learn about.

If GOD gave earth to man...it was a bad decision...he should have given it to apes, at least they'd look after it !!!

Ok, one = a mathematics concept.

Once you start applying it to reality, it becomes fuzzy. 'One who creates' ok, let's call that a guy, flicking a booger.

The booger, while it's a singular 'one' object, is actually a collection of atoms, etc, even though it's singular, it depends on which attribute you're looking at, to arrive at singularity.

Next, let's move on to your 'purpose of our creation...' question.

People, that is, us humans, are born the world over, speak hundreds of languages, and largely live independent lives. The 'god' you speak of, is 'dios' to my Spanish speaking friends, and 'Allah' to my Muslim ones. To the people who lived here in California, before the European invasion, god was any number of different dieties...and, the bible had never made it to this side of the Atlantic in those days, so they were living without some of the gods people worship.

Given all these unique circumstances, the one which you speak of has to be dying. We're all born to die, as all living beings must descend into darkness and ultimately death.

The journey there, towards that end though, is full of...well, what you make of it. I like Legion's answer, as well.

we were put here on this earth to worship God. He doesn't NEED us -but He does desire us.
I think our minds are too small to even comprehend the full concept of what God has in store for us. It's simple: our purpose is to glorify God. To you, if this means spreading the word, obeying the word, whatever it means-do it.
Since the Fall in the garden of Eden, man has been having to live for God in order to experience true joy. Not temp. happiness, but only true joy can be found within Christ. If you feel like you just can't get a break, then Christ is more than likely waiting for you. Being a christian doesn't mean that your life will be perfect, it just means that you know have someone to turn too that will never leave you.
sorry this got so lengthy lol.
