Hey! I know exactly how you feel. Don't be ashamed of your feelings. When I was growing up, my parents always made me go to church and join youth group. I believed it only because I was basically brainwashed. But I did research, and discovered for myself that religion is something I cannot accept as reality. I wish I could be religious, but for the time being I just straight up don't believe it. Being confused about religion is something almost everyone goes through, so don't worry. If you want to talk more about it or have any other questions feel free to ask me!
it shouldn't be by what you are 'told' - it should be by what you've read in the Bible - Faith comes by hearing and hearing comes by the Word of God - we are all sinners and Jesus paid the price for our sins on the cross..the most important decision any person makes: either accept or reject Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savour - there's no inbetween/no gray area..I would read the book of John, then the book of Psalms to get started..I wish you the very best !!
Amblessed is right it shouldn't be by what your told so you grew up being taught this is hat happened this is the right history (aka the Truth) But just cause your parents believe it doesn't make it right for you or the rest of the world.. Do some research read some religion type books.. like the Bhagavad Gita(Hindu)which is the largest religion in the world.. Hmm Or try reading some philosiphy like idealism ((Bauer, Marx, Bradley, Sartre, Küng Hegel) but also look into opposing points of view like existentialism (Kierkagaard, Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, Heidegger, Schelling) Check out Descartes (the father of modern philosophy). There is so much more out there.. Learn.. Find out what you believe, have faith in yourself.. not what you were raised on.. I was raised Catholic but at age 15 denounced it saying I didn't believe in organized religion. To me they looked down upon others too much and weren't accepting of others beliefs.(Not all but most don't practice what they preach) I believe in what I think is right but if it's not right for you, that's ok.. I see most modern religions as a crutch for the weak at heart.. Most people aren't strong enough to believe in themselves, and that their morals, values and beliefs of gods, or heavens, can make them a better person.. If you need a set structure of things to buy and believe so be it.. But I believe it really boils down to what's in your heart, and faith in yourself and humanity.. Not what is supposed to be right
Everything in your life doesn't have to think for you.. you have a mind of your own.. Just cause meechkk's god is real to them, doesn't mean its right for you .. You can believe in your god, and pray to him and worship him on your own if you want.. Some people don't need a religion or structure to have faith.. I doubt such a loving god will look down upon you ever! (at least thats how its supposed to be) Right ? And there are so many different religions out there.. Go think for yourself.. Break away for a while if necessary, if you come back to that religion, I'm sure that god will forgive you.. But try not to let others preach to you and push their morals, values, and ideals on you.. Find out for yourself if thats what you believe
Decide on your own conclusion about God not what others dictate to you. Belief in God doesnt come from Books or Tutors is comes from within and how you feel in your heart. You dont need a Church or Temple to worship or pray. god is everywhere and he can hear you. Have faith and you will find the answers.
Cheers
Mieca
Why not ask the God who made you in His image? The Holy Spirit will direct you if you let Him. Besides, if you remember from Sunday school that Jesus was led into the desert for 40 days for testing and preparation. Maybe this is God's way of getting your attention or maybe He is preparing You for something. Don't lose heart. Ask and it shall be given unto you, seek and you shall find, knock and it will be opened to you. Ask your preacher, pastor youth leader, or someone of faith you trust to pray for and with you as you seek.
Remember it's not the church building or your families faith it is your personal relationship with God. I will pray for you.
plus my parents are christians and i go to a christain skool. It pis*is me off when people r always telling us in skool and whata not we need to have faith. Or every religion is based on faith or sh*t like that. I always am like well guess whhat there has tos some prove before i'm gona just be like faith faith fu*kin faith. Look it up see if there is prove.
