well technically it is known as a dwarf planet because of 2 reasons:
1) its ditance away from the sun in orbit
2) Its size in diamiter is too small to be considered a planet.
But I always see as a planet, just one thats a few hours drive away and is small and midget like, like me!
So that was putting it basically.
For a plant it's pretty big, definitely not a dwarf... For a planet it's fricking tiny.
There's other rocks orbiting the sun bigger than pluto that also count as dwarf planets, in reality it's closer in size to being an unusually large asteroid than any of the other known planets.
Dwarf planets don't have to be a certain size to count as planets though, the difference between them is dwarf planets haven't kicked out or absorbed the rest of the crap in their orbit yet. (Which just usually correlates to being on the small side)
