How can I improve my marks in school this year?

Im starting at a new school in September and last year wasnt my best year. I got pretty bad marks on tests but I studied so im not sure what happened. I really want to make a fresh start at this school. Please, does anyone have any advice for what I should do that can improve my marks???

Hi,

First -- ask questions in class, especially if you don't understand something. If you feel embarrassed, ask your teacher after or before class.

Second, make sure you have people in your class as friends, so if you have homework trouble you can call them and work it out together.

Lastly, talk to your parents and let them know that you WANT to do well. Maybe they can hire a tutor or help you find out if your school has tutors.

I'd add a couple more:

1) set a schedule so you know you'll study hard in the evening until a certain time - then take a break. Relax. Have some guilt-free fun. Enjoy a bit of life and friendship. Then after the relief, hit it again if there's still more to do. The discipline will carry over into other areas and the freedom that comes from having hit it hard will feel really good. So will the good marks!

2) don't write EVerything down if you take written notes. Write enough to jog your memory is all. It will give you more time to listen and get more information. (Listening takes a lot less time than writing everything down).
