I don't know but I think it may have something to do with how healthy you are. Someone like yourself probably has a nice healthy color but someone that has vascular or circulation problems will probably have a darker purplish color. I bet that even dehydration would make a difference.
I feel the same way about hair. A healthy person will have soft, shiny, healthy hair but those who are ill or even aging, will have dry brittle hair and hair loss.

People are always asking me what shade of lip stick I use, but I don't wear any. I guess they are kinda pink, but this is normal right? Do people's natural lip color really vary that much?
