My new shitzu pup!

I purchased a shitzu from a pet store 2 weeks ago.Since I've had him his nose and eyes have been running and he sneezes all day.He also makes this grunting sound as if there's something stuck in his nose its like he's trying to get air and as this is...

going on his stomache goes in and out.I called the store with concern and the sales associate told me not to worry they gave me some antibiotics Medicine to give him.The associate also said because the shitzu nose is so small that's why he makes the noise.I've never seen this in any dog.Anyone with this breed ever have these problems?

It could be kennel cough. a lot of puppies get it. I would still take him to a vet to be safe.

well I think they dont no what they are talking about if the noise is like it can not breath there are many shitzu that have this problem I have heard that finger down the throat works but never tried it myself it is ment to clear the air ways oo and hot tea or a hot drink it good I have heard to I would personnely take it to a vet before trying this just to make sure it has not got a blood clot or something stuck some where !!! I usually did that when my dog was choking on sonething that he ate, and he was able to swallow it. if he wasnt able to breathe, I would squeeze his chest to help him get some air. that helped my dog if he couldnt breathe sometimes, so good luck with that, and by the way, I do know what im talking about. I've had my shih tzu for more than 7 years and he reacently had to have surgery on his eye. so I do know a lot about my dog

Well, he's probably a puppy mill pup, since you purchased him at a pet store...puppy mills aren't noted for breeding only the best in order to get the best. Shitzu's have that short nose, and even well bred ones can have breathing problems...

Take your pup to the Vet...get a health check to make sure he doesn't have any diseases...and tell the Vet about the breathing problem. There may be something they can do to help.

DO NOT squeeze his chest...stick your finger down his throat...feed him tea or anything else not for dogs...take him to the Vet!!!

I can't believe the pet store gave you antibiotics... unless they are a vet they should not be administering the meds to you... Get him to the vet as soon as you can, you should do this anyways... Pet store puppies usually come from puppy mills, there are a lot of diseases that go around in those places... The best thing for him right now is a vet, you could lose him if you don't take him in.

I would take him to a vet for a health check up. Sounds like Kennel cough to me.
