ok, I've always wanted my cartlige peirced on my ear, so a few wdays ago I tried peircing it. but the needle wouldnt go all the way through, so I took it out. now, my ear hurts like HELL!!! my whole ear is rilly red, and where I peirced it, theres a big huge bump on the front and the back. the whole where I put the needle in is like a tiny yellow scab. why does my ear hurt sooo bad, and what can I do to make it heal faster??? the pain is unbearable. its so sore if I touch it, and I always end up wacking my ear. it hurts so bad. plus its hard to sleep because im a side sleeper, and it hurts my ear even more. should I like, squeeze the bumpy part on my ear, or like, what?

ok this might sound like it would hurt but if you put salt water on it then it will heal faster its what I use when I get somthin periced on my body it works great and if its cold it feels great to no but you should poke the whole dont squeeze that will make it hurt more.

Salt water..it draws the infection out so it heals faster. I have had much experience with infected ears and this is the best thing. What I had to do was get a small cup with the hottest water that I could stand and then add salt and mix it in really good. Then I would put my ear into the cup...its kinda tricky but its good to soak it and make sure every part that is infected is covered. do this for like 5 min a couple times a day and it should heal pretty fast. If you dot want to go through all of that with the salt water you could try putting peroxide on it. just make sure you keep your ear clean. Hope it helped. if you need anything else let me know.

the bump is probably a keloid - they usually appear after piercings when an infection occurs.. you should go see your doctor

P.S. dont listen to anyone that calls you an idiot or anything like that. The smarter thing would be to get it professionally done but you did not know. You know for next time though.

Haha okay I tried this before myself too ahhh it does hurt like a B*tch!! and yes I did have those bumbs! If you are going to do it by yourself you are going to have suck it up and do it... or else you will just have those bumbs which will go away after time and use plainly of alcohol to take away the infection maybe use ice to get it down .. if I was you since you are have a hard time and cant get it through get it down professionally and to make sure your doing it in the right spot. good luck ☆

you are not an idiot.

I have pierced my cartilage twice. I do not have any pictures but if you really want ill take some and post them. the LAST thing you want to do is use plenty of alcohol because you can damage your own skin cells that are trying to repair themselves. ice will help. what you possibly have is called a keloid which someone mentioned before or just an infection. rinsing it with a saline solution helps, also washing with mild mild soap. I just pierced mine not too long ago and my ear hurt so I started rinsing it with a saline solution and using a small amount of neosporin to keep infection at bay. you should also wash your hands before you touch your earring. some people probably mentioned salt water but I didnt read everyone elses I just started writing.

well you are a bit...if your going to peirce something you cant just do it slowly and then freak out. it needs to be done fast. thats why you shouldnt have done it yourself. you need someone else to do it for yo...prefarbly a profeshional...don not do anything to the bump...especially pop it...thats stupid...it is infected and the are has swollen and gone red becasue there half a hole in the back of it! right now your ear is doing its best to fight off infections and heal itself, so leave it alone for at least 2 weeks...dont constantly touch it or infection can spread and will stay there longer. time will heal it so just wait and be patient. and dont try to perice the same are again for at least 3 months or untill the are if fully healed and closed up.

like the person up there (sorry forgot the name) said, it could be a keloid.
In that case you should go to the doctor
