My dog never stops barking!?

My dog is a 6 year old cavalier king charles, when ever we let him out into the garden or even if there is a animal on the telle he constantley barks, how can I get him to stop. It drives us mad!!!

Barking for a dog is the same as speaking for a human. Just as some people talk constantly, some dogs do. You can try the sharp shh method like Ceaser Milan, but that one's never worked for me. Your dog is probably just really excited.

You could always try using a shock collar as well, but I personally find them inhumane.

Some breeds are more reactive than other breeds...and different dogs within those breeds can also have a higher reactivity. A shock collar is a going a little overboard for a human irratation (and is usually reserved for dangerous behavior...dangerous for the dog, or for people). The first thing I'd try is tiring the dog out. Take it for a nice LONG walk...everyday...and see if that doesn't take some of his stinker-ness away...My experience has been that a tired dog is a good dog.

There are citronella collars, also...they aren't as severe as an E-collar...The rule of thumb with dogs, is to use the least amount of discipline it takes to get the results that you are looking for.
