How do I get a part in a musical theatre?

I'm really interested in musical theatre and desperate to be on stage. How do I go about it? I mean- I'm not one of these people who are kidding themselves with false dreams of fame and fortune or anything like that- I'm just really passionate about theatre.

First you need to learn how to audition - As a musical theatre actress that will be the majority of what you do. Learn as much as you can - What songs to avoid, what to avoid doing in auditions and what works. Know how to communicate to the pianist as to what tempo you like and where to start and stop. You can learn all of this in schools for musical theatre and as a musical theatre major. (there are also camps available but they can be pretty pricey.)

Then you need to find as many auditions as you can. (you can do this with or without the help of an agent). Try websites like exploretalent.com and talentmatch.com
