OMG you need some real advice asap. London is complicated. People write books about how to find a flat in London! Check out amazon.com to see if you can find a good one (sorry forgot the title).

The one very important piece of advice I can give you is you'll be planning where you live depending on where you work. So if you have a job already (this would help) then you will plan accordingly to your jobs location. You see commuting in London is a nightmare therefore you want to make it the less painful possible. The shortest, most direct route is always the best (especialy if you can avoid the tube!). So start by looking at locations close to work or that have a direct connection to it.

Secondly, most everyone uses rental agents. They have tons of these, look on the net, you'll find lots of adds. All to say the best flats are gone almost as soon as they are put on the market so be fast.

Thirdly, always check out the neighborhood where you plan on living, some places you just don't want to live. Ask your co-workers where they live and what they think about so so neighborhood.

This should help some.
Good luck!
