Doesn't seem like such an effective ad to me. Is that really the best McCain's crew can come up with? That popular people have to be shallow and lack substance? I understand what they are trying to do, take his strength and use it against him. I just don't think this campaign will be effective.
Then again since most Americans disagree with McCain on issues his best strategy is probably to change the subject and talk empty platitudes, use sound bites, and make childish ad hominem attacks.
Seems Obama was the first to bring up this comparison:
A February 24, 2005, Washington Post article begins:
There's nothing exotic or complicated about how phenoms are made in Washington, and, more to the point, how they are broken.
Andy Warhol said we all get our 15 minutes of fame, says Barack Obama. I've already had an hour and a half. I mean, I'm so overexposed, I'm making Paris Hilton look like a recluse.
Amblessed, there is a big difference between making a joke about yourself, and an opponent making silly accusations of a lack of susbstance simply because he is a popular figure. I agree with filetofspam. It will not be effective as long as Obama keeps directing attention to their policiy differences. McCain is trying everything he can to make this campaign about Obama, and not about the issues. Issues that he happens to be on the opposite side of for most americans. It is not going to work.

Think about the video's mcshame made about obama?
What do you think about the video's McShame made about Obama? The one about how Obama is like Paris Hilton, or Lindsay lohan, whatever he said. Do you think they have any relevance to anything that is happening? Or is he just trying to be funny? I think...
it's stupid, and I think McShame is a COMPLETE idiot, he definitely reminds me of Bush. They even kind of look the same.
Have you seen the movie they are making? About Bush? It's called W. And is going to be in theaters this fall, most likely before the elections. This shows how much people DON'T want another Republican.
Are you Republican or a Democrat?
