There are too many out there to say one is the 'best' online dating service. My advice: check out some of the free ones, eg, craigslist, plentyoffish, okcupid, or justsayhi.

Then once you have a better idea of what exactly you want out of the service (they all have different features / functionality, etc) then sign up for the dating site that fits your idea best. Also there are some with limited time free trials - test those out before plunking down any cash.
