Why are so many questions locked?

why are a lot of the questions locked now? you cant give advice if the question is locked.

Well, questions are locked if they break the Terms of Use

Anything dealing with self-harm (anorexia, suicide, cutting), homework, hacking, etc. is locked *after advice has been given* that will help the person.

It just so happens that many, many questions are dealing with these unallowed topics.

When you sign up for the site you agree to the terms of use policy.
If the question is against that policy, it will get locked, thats the only reason questions get locked.
