When mine does that it complains once I turn it back on-the whole 'was not shut down properly'. But if yours doesn't do that, I'd say it's fine to do.
yeah its fine to do, just make sure save everything quickly lol
It is dangerous.
Your laptop is not shutting down properly. Holding the power button to turn off the laptop is just an emergency turn off. It should only be used when your computer is completely frozen and wont respond to anything. You can set the power button to shut down after one press:
If you're using Windows XP do this:
Go to Start > Control Panel > Performance & Maintenence > Power Options. Then click the advanced tab.
You should see 3 boxes. Go to the second one and use the dropdown menu and then click Shut Down.
Now you can shut down your computer properly with the button.

Is it safe to shut my laptop by pushing the power button?
Is it safe to shut down my laptop my pressing and holding the power button? I do that sometimes instead of having to go in programs and then turn off computer and then waiting for it to shut down. When I press and hold the power button it shuts down immediately...Yeah so is it safe?
