Depends on the children. My kids tend to be pretty active (both boys, 5 & 7) from 9 AM or so until evening, around 6pm.

However, after they run around, play tag or similar, they usually take a rest for 5-10 minutes, which is when I collaps to try to get up the energy for the next round of craziness Eventually, they'll grow out of it & be more independent, so enjoy it while you can, as I'm sure I'll miss it when they're older.

I think they are still learning to conserve energy... most kids who are super hyper usually crash at some point...
adults usually spend their energy spread out over time so they dont pass out at like 6pm...

(this has always been a theory of mine, but I dont have any kids... thoughts anyone?)

Dear marilyn54,
First of all we need to understand sugar does not make one hyper...there is nothing that shows this or has this ever been proven. Children are naturally active it is the rest of us who have gotten rather lazy. When a child is given the means to be active they will be, that's normal. If we don't give our children things to keep them busy they too will become lazy. Follow a child around for the day stopping for 3 meals an snacks through out the day and before long you too will feel very energetic too.
Sue...goodluck
