I'm 21 (no kids)

Well the right to basic necessities (food, shelter, clothing, education, medication, etc)
The right to not be harmed (I.e. not be abused mentally, physically, sexually, or emotionally)
The right to be taught right from wrong (which includes being disciplined)
The right to be respected and cared for...

Children do have rights. They have the right to be loved and cherished, clothed and educated and fed healthy food. They have the right to be taught that the world doesn't revolve around them and there are limits on what people can and cannot do. They have the right to be taught that it's a good thing to help others, to respect elders that deserve respect. They have the right to be taught that they need to leave the world a better place than when they entered it.

The world is not an easy place to exist. Some children are blessed with an easier beginning than others. But every child deserves love, food, clothing and an education. They also deserve values and respect.

I think at age 16 you should be allowed to do what you want. but oh well. 3 more years for me until I can say and do what I want legally. without parents telling me what to do.

as a 30ish yr old mother of 3 I feel that kids get enough rights.u have the right at age 12 to not have parents in doctors office, you have the right to your privacy. I feel that these rights are telling kids today that they can do as they please when they please. No I don't feel that kids should have the right at 16 to quit school, because in order to get ahead you need your education. My opinion is that if you want to quit school at 16 it is only because you are lazy and want everything handed to you.Kids today have to much leway and rights.Especially when a 12 or 13 yr old is going out and having sex and getting pregnant or doing drugs. These kids most often can't take care of themselves let alone a baby. They are just babies themselves.

You don't have a right to drop out of school because society realizes how important a good education is to you and your success in life -- not just financially but emotionally.

You do have a right to be protected. Therefore there are child welfare agencies designed to help you and defend you.

I've heard in some countries, highschool ends at grade 10 and students have the option to further their public education, attend a trade school, or go to work. I thought that was pretty smart. If you don't want to be in school learning, pick up a shovel and dig a ditch for minimum wage.

equal love from their parents and their parents shouldnt favor one sibling. they shouldnt have to listen to their parents because if the parents just keep saying no, like no pop or something, they can still do it when their older, but then if they are deprived of something, they take it to the next level, like beer. or if the parents say no myspace until youre 14, the kid will naturally want to do something like it when they are 18...so they will pick underage drinking or sneaking into a club or something. kids should learn from their mistakes instead of just hearing no all the time. no one will be there saying no just becuase I said so when they are older. but their conscience will always be there. also the unalienable rights, and the right to vote because the president affects the kids as much as the adults.

I'm 14 and I think kids should have the right to know how and why, instead of just NO! or because I said so, in order to build good communication with parents
I also don;t understand why everyone makes a big deal wehn a man hits a woman once, but children get smacked everyday at home and its no big deal. that needs to change.
kids should also have the right to take part in a decision for treatment process for an illness, because afterall, ITS THEIR BODIES. NOT YOURS, PARENTS.
