It's not a matter of freedom of speech, it's a matter of Kanye West being a rude, pompous, arrogant person.

I don't really like any of the people involved (Taylor, Kanye or Beyonce), but realistically, I think Taylor Swift won that award for a reason.

Imagine it was you who won that award, and some singer came up, told you someone else deserved that award more than you, and generally peed on your lollies in front of everyone- maybe it's just me, but I think Kanye should have shown a bit more respect, been gracious, and accepted the decision.

Your dim-witted opinion of musical talent is TOTALLY irrelevant. So is Kanye's... THAT is the point...

***kanye was giving his opinion what about freedom of speech?***

...giving his opinion (which has no value, given the situation), by interrupting her acceptance of the award. He was violating HER freedom of speech. He had NO REASON to be up there in the first place, and had NO RIGHT to interrupt her, just so he could be a slapdick in front of all the cameras.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. he could have stated his disagreement AFTER the show. it was very low disrespectful and immature what he did. and its low of anyone who agrees wit what he did. its funny how you didnt mention the kindness that beyouce did toward taylor. you dont like her fine but have some respect. and give me a break on freedom of speech. it isn about that its bout respect. he cant depend on talent to put him in the spotlight so he has to be immature.

I don't like Taylor Swift, Kanye West or Beyonce, and I don't care who wins some crappy MTV award or whatever it was. It's nothing to do with who's video was better, it's just common courtesy to not jump on stage and interrupt someone else while they're accepting an award.

For some reason nobody seems to realise there is a difference between speaking one's mind and being rude.

Yes, he was giving his opinion, but you don't jump up in the middle of an award ceremony to do that. I would have hoped that Kane's mother at least taught him some common courtesy or decency. Something which he seriously seems to be lacking.

I felt that it was just mildly humourous, no more or less. So get off your high horse captainassassin. They are two celebrities who have nothing important to do with our daily lives. Why should you care so much about Taylor Swift, did she find a cure for cancer? Even on principle, saying you don't agree, what does it matter? It was such an inconsequential action that brightened up a boring news day. Regardless, it's still a stupid subject but again mildly amusing, alright JR?

***So get off your high horse captainassassin.***

I see no reason to sink to your level...

***They are two celebrities who have nothing important to do with our daily lives.***

Except they recently provided a means (this subject) for people to express their rationale and principles. You failed.

***Why should you care so much about Taylor Swift***

I don't... what matters is the situation and the actions taken, not the people involved.

***did she find a cure for cancer?***

Actually yes, yes she did. Have you not been watching the news? u___u

By the way, what kind of stupid logic is that? We should only care about a person, if they've cured cancer? Well, nobody has found a cure for cancer; so by your logic, we should care about NO ONE...

***Even on principle, saying you don't agree, what does it matter?***

...it matters because I'm right. And obviously it matters to YOU also, otherwise you wouldn't be whining about it.

It doesn't matter at all to me, I just find you very amusing captainassassin. So easy to push your buttons. Can I take logic classes from you, Socrates of Dallas? I'll never have to read Plato again after hearing yours pearls of wisdom. It was all a joke from the start you fool, a child could see that. Of course I don't agree with that jackass Kanye West. It's what we call a sense of humour, or humor as some americans mispell it. You should run for senator, you have a higher calling. I could never make it up to your level, and I could never have your beautiful rationale and principles (cries into his pillow). To quote Robert Smith, why can't I be you? Your slogan could be, what matters is the situation and actions taken, not the people involved, a politician being honest! Really captainassassin (great name btw), you provideth me with much entertainment. I am a joker of sorts, anarchic and tricksy, you are batman, ridiculous name, humourless. Take care now. And I suppose you'll report me like a good citizen. Go ahead, I do not care one iota.

Oh, so you're an idiot AND delusional...

***Can I take logic classes from you, Socrates of Dallas? I'll never have to read Plato again after hearing yours pearls of wisdom.***

...AND a drama queen, your list of personal shortcomings is growing.

***It was all a joke from the start you fool, a child could see that.***

Like I said from the beginning... it was a stupid reason. I was right, and now you're agreeing with me.

***It's what we call a sense of humour, or humor as some americans mispell it.***

I suppose Americans find the silent 'u' to be stupid, and a complete waste of time... much like marching side by side in bright red jackets, instead of taking cover...
Although, every dictionary (including Oxford) recognizes the U.S. version anyway, so it isn't actually mispelled in the first place.

***You should run for senator, you have a higher calling. I could never make it up to your level, and I could never have your beautiful rationale and principles...***

Oh look, you finally said something accurate... n___n (golf claps)

***To quote Robert Smith, why can't I be you?***

...because you lack good taste in music... among other things.

***Really captainassassin (great name btw)***

...I know...

***I am a joker of sorts, anarchic and tricksy, you are batman, ridiculous name, humourless.***

My sense of humor, like many things, is just beyond your comprehension.

***Take care now. And I suppose you'll report me like a good citizen. Go ahead, I do not care one iota.***

I don't report people for being stupid and unimaginative...

I actually liked that reply lex icon, you could teach the captain a thing or two about comebacks. I like flattering myself lex icon, you're not going to do it for me! I know that both the you spellings and non-u spellings are accepted, I was slying trying to make myself look idiotic, pretentious, vain and crass. And I seem to have succeeded. Irony never made it across the big pond, but we'll all live.

That's the whole point dude! Adopting an idiotic persona, playing around with it, just a bit of fun. I happen to totally agree with you about my reason being stupid, I just wanted to see the reaction. I don't believe what I said. I never even expected anyone to pick up on it. So no hard feelings, eh? You're an articulate person who puts his point across clearly.
