Just want to be friends

This guy named Bao I think is trying to ask me out. I said I think because he hasn't yet. When we were at the dance he said that he wanted to dance with me if any slow songs played and that he needed to talk to me afterwords (no slow songs did play so...

that didn't happen). Then another day he asked me if I was going to be at my locker after school because he needed to talk to me about something. He didn't talk to me though because my friend Jenny had gotten to my locker before he did so he never said anything. Then today he called me and he said this is really akward (he wasn't talking about much). Then he three wayed Vivian and Vivian asked him Did you say it yet and he said no I told them I had to get off the phone (which was a lie) before he had a chance to. Anyways the real problem is he is a really great friend but I just don't like him in that way. And I don't want to lose another friend again. I can't even talk to him anymore its just way too akward, how can I turn him down and still maintain our friendship?

just tell him outright, dont lie and be honest as possible. tell him that you think that if you two date then your relationship as friends will never be the same.

I know how you feel, I had a friendship like that. Just tell him, what you feel... But wait until he asks you because if he never actually felt anything that would be stupid. tell him he's an awesome friend, but it just wouldn't work that way for you. Tell him you still want to be friends. Maybe it would work out for you two later... just not right now. Your friend ship might be a little strange for a couple of days but after a while things will get back to normal.
