it's a very hard thing to abolish.
As people who are violent are very ill and need professional help,
so..it does'nt matter what you do,they will always be violent.
I do not believe in the words- non violence, the philosophy exists- but I believe it gets lost in the real word application.
simply look at non violent protests from the past- they more often than not have become mob rule aggressive clashes.
look at the monk that was protesting the viet nam war- he was peacefully protesting - until he started himself on fire- which became a violent act towards himself.
the sit -ins from the hippie era, if they wanted non violent protests- they would have left the premises, when ordered to by the police, they did what they set out to do- delivered their message non violently and they should have walked away non violently.
that is not the way it pans out though- people get into the mob mindset, they believe that their rights outweigh everyone elses- and they force a violent clash with law enforcement- and then whine about it later with their bruises on full display- doesn't sound too non violent to me.
I'm sorry- but a non violent world only exists in fantasy, I believe that nations need to always maintain a strong military- and use that military when diplomacy has failed.
so - NO non violence is not an end- because it never ends that way- it most times leads to more violence, and martyrdom for fallen leaders.

Is non violence a end to a beginning?
I would say non violence can achieve a lot when done within a protest in a democracy. The idea that one can change a dictator through non violence may be possible but I doubt it. The question comes from when non violence becomes instilled in a government...
that it doesnt have a military thinking talks can stop a ceaser. I think in the end that type of government will fall and the peace replaced with drafts and people forced to go to war.
The above paragraph is the reference of what the question is.
