Is it too early to think about christmas presents?

Jeremy Goodrich yep, that's me Asked by thedude over 3 years ago, 6 answers.

The other day, I overheard a guy talking about shopping for the holidays. Is it too early to think about christmas presents? I realize that it's still early October, but hearing other guys talk about it makes me wonder.

What about you? Do you start...

thinking about it now, or wait till a more sane time, like mid November? That's typically when I start my holiday shopping.

I think the earlier you get everything done the more time you have to mak sure you have everything done. The items i haven't bought yet i have on layaway waiting to be picked up.
I find it to be totally idiotic that people will wait until the last minute, it's like they do that just so they have a valid reason to complain about the holidays and holiday shopping.

My mom starts buying the day after Christmas for the next Christmas season. She stockpiles cool presents in a room and then by the end of the year she has something for everyone.

Me... with 14 siblings, 3 sets of parents, 12 neices and nephews, 8 aunts and uncles and 19 cousins... and that's just my side. Dh has 10 siblings, 1 set of parents, 5 nieces and nephews, 4 great neices and nephews, 1 set of grandparents, at least 8 aunts and uncles, and I dunno how cousins. With that many people in a family, they are lucky if I spend the $100 on cards.

the sooner the better as prices of things go up a few months before Christmas..often the best time to buy Christmas presents is the day after the Christmas period so it could be that you get them a year early or a few days late..also the sooner you get them the less stress you have about all the other preperations you may have to consider and yes it means you can make sure nobody has been forgotten

The day after Christmas is WAY too early. By the next Christmas, people aren't going to want what they wanted a year ago.
