Ironing boards?

Why do ironing boards have a pointed end on one side?
It's been boggling me.

it simulates the neck and shoulders one ONE SIDE of a shirt at a time depending on placement so you can see where you want your creases right/ maybe? thats what I use it for pantlegs too
