How can I be happy?

Asked by fau 5 months ago, 9 answers.

I know its normal for teenagers to feel sad, but I honestly believe im sadder then most teenagers. I've been so anxious that my mom took me to a therapist and they made me take this survey thing and it said I was 'moderately depressed.' im even on medication to control my anxiety and the therapist told me to just think positve and itll help my attitude and view on life.. but I cant help but feel negative about everything. the only time im happy is when im with friends but id like to be happy when im just by myself or with my family. I get so lonely and insecure and I feel like life is totally pointless. the pain I feel is almost untolerable. sometimes I feel like a failior and id be better off dead. dont worry, im not going to kill myself and I dont plan on hurting myself in any kind of way. I just want a cure for my sadness.

ricsta, ir=f you have nothign better to do than to laugh at other peoples pain, then you need t get a life.
as for xxxelizabeth92...
I know exactly what your going through.
except for any girl probelms. those Idont understnad
But
I guess the best I can sa is every morning, look in the mirror. tell yourself how beautiufl you are, and how muc of a nice person you are. you ARE beautiful, and you ARE nice. think of all your future dreams and what you want t do with your life. in my opinion, your beauty will lead you places ina good carrer, maybe even modeling. I dont know what you carrer is, but if I ever got the privalge to work around you, it would be and honor. you seem like one of the people who arent sure with their life, but yet you have an invisible carrer path thats there but not visible. I think alls you need to do is find a hobby, find somehting you like to do, and think about things that make you happy. If your mind is in a state of happiness, then I'm sure you'll be in a state of happiness to.
*hugs*
hope your able to cheer up some

message me if you need anythign at all
hope this helped!!

Life will not alwsys be fun and it will mess with you a lot. But I take it day by day in hope that the best thing that will ever happen to you will be unexpected .

'This moment shall to pass' When your in the moment feeling depressed this saying does little to cheer you up but it is a nice little reminder that these feelings don't last forever. Ever since High School up until adulthood I struggled with bouts of depression, some lasting more than others. Do not to fall into the temptation to take medication. It may alleviate the symptoms, but can cause further problems down the road. Try exercise. When your feeling well, get yourself into an exercise routine. Once a routine is established it's much easier to maintain when feeling down, also it helps prevents the depression coming back full fledged. We all feel alone when depression hits, but the truth is many others suffer just as you do, so your not alone! Keep a journal, read a book during the times your alone as this helps alleviate the loneliness that sets in. Your counselor was right, try to think positive, but I am well aware of how difficult this can be as I too tend to think more negatively ...it's a practice though. Everyday say something positive as stupid as it may sound ... like they say practice makes perfect and in this case, it's no different matter ... if you need a person to talk to please feel free to write me ... hope this helped out a bit ... tomorrow is a new day! Good luck!

Your therapist told you to think positive? Where did s/he get their degree? online?

Go see someone who knows what they're talking about.

I've seen atleast 5 different therapists in the last 2 years, and not one of them told me to think positive... Yes the role of cognitive behavioral therapy is to change the way a person thinks, however, telling a person to think positive is just as helpful as saying snap out of it

Also anxiety pills do not help with depression... you may need antidepressants.

I really would go talk to someone else...
