Does the Zyrtec D help you ?

I'm just tired of the ones that makes me to sleep.

Zyrtec is one of the few things that make a difference. I used it when it was still prescription only. Some people do get tired from it. I don't. Mucinex will break up mucous so you can cough it up or blow your nose easier. The Zyrtec D will dry up excess mucous that you can't get rid of. This along with lots of Vitamin C is my cocktail of choice for colds. I only use the decongestant when I have a head cold. Usually I just have the itchy eyes and lots of sneezing, which the regular Zyrtec knocks out pretty quickly. My husband gets sleepy from Zyrtec, so he uses Clariten D, which is better for the pocket book (it has a generic).

Look up Nasal Irrigation. I found that rinsing my sinuses with salt water worked far better than any medications to keep my allergies at bay.

There is a gizmo called Neti Pot that is traditionally used for this purpose but there are also large syringes designed for this purpose.

Whenever my sinues start getting stuffy I start using my Neti pot. I should do it every day to keep from having any allergies at all.

Dear fau,
As stated the saline nasal washes work great, prescribed meds are still better then over the counter for some but Allegra is said to be in par with them. Using air cleaners are a must in a household and staying away from triggers. Use the AC when possible in the home and the car. Again the number one thing is know your triggers and avoid them.
Sue...good luck
