I found a robin fledgling and its wing is broken, what should i do?
Earlier today I found a young robin fledgling and its wing was broken and bloody. The blood dried so the wound wasn't very fresh. It must have been hit by a car since it was by the side of the road. I found it near my aunt's house so I took it home since...
she has cats.
I put it in a box lid with a cage over it and paper towels to line it. It's in a warm dark place to rest right now. I fed it 3 worms around 10 pm. That's the only thing its had to eat since about 7 or 8 pm. I had to force it to eat since it wouldn't. I think its traumatized.
I know not to feed it bread or milk and its ok to feed blueberries, meal worms, grasshoppers with no wings or legs, horseflies with no wings, worms, flies, crickets, soft caterpillars, and spiders, moistened dry dog or cat food, and canned dog or cat food. I also know to feed it at least once an hour. I only found this out within the past hour and its almost 2 am.
I also know about the laws regarding migratory birds and about the permits needed to keep them. In the morning I'll call a vet or specialist about it tomorrow. I'll probably take him to a place where they have the permits to take care of him.
I'm just wondering if there's anything else I should know?
