Should i tell my niece's secret since she told mine?

My niece is 12 and I'm 14. We told each other a secret. Mine was that I cut myself and hers was some things she did with her boyfriend. She also cut his name into her leg and my mom found out and was griping her out about it. My niece said well have you...

When we got home we were not talking to each other.
I sent her a message on Myspace and said well you told my secret that you promised you wouldn't and you told me a secret so what should I do with that? And she was like please don't tell.

well dont tell i know it must hurt you but be the better person.. and dont cut yourself.. why are you cutting yourself.. its not god those marks will be there forever..

even though she told ur secret it wouldnt be fair to tell her secret.. she will relieze later that what she did was wrong but 2 wrongs dont make things right.. i would keep her secret. an tell her the reason im not tellin ur secret b.c i promised u i wouldnt.. next time before u say anything remember the promise u made to someone...

I agree with what pyrochick said, two wrongs don't make a right. You should tell her you aren't going to tell her secret because you know you promised you wouldn't, and that you wished she hadn't broken her promise to you. I know you don't want to hear this- but it might even be a good thing she mentioned you cut yourself, even if it was a secret.
You are obviously going through a lot if you cut yourself, and your mom needs to know! It's hard, but try to talk to someone about your problem. You deserve help and to be happy. Talk to your mom, or a counselor or doctor or any adult you can trust about this. Cutting doesn't solve your problems, try to find another way out!

Your niece was right to tell your mother about your cutting...even if you're doing it for fun and because you like the look or because you know others who do it. You are still cutting and that is wrong. Anytime we do damage to our bodies it needs to be addressed. What your cousin did was wrong too...she should have not cut either or done ANYTHING at 12 with a boy. Her mother needs to know also. Some times people tell secrets because they really are looking for guidance with what they feel may be wrong. I think you both know you were doing the wrong things and were looking for acceptance from each other but both of you were smart enough to know that you were both doing inappropriate things. So never promise to keep secrets with anyone; because most secrets people tell others are just ways of looking for help.

She seriously cut her boyfriends name into her leg?? More importantly at the age of 12!?!

Anyways, don't tell. Your the one that should set the example since your her aunt. Eventually when she gets older she'll be grateful for your deeds.

But if you want to get a little evil you can always use it against her at times...

well... I do not think u should tell her secret. even though she blabbered your secret because she got mad doesnt mean u have to get back at her. not to be rude but u both have problems that u need to get fixed. u should not cut your self no matter how much u like it or how deep it is. and she should not be doing anything se*ual with a boy at age 12. one day shes going to get pregnant and her life would be screwed over.
so next time dont tell her a secret u have or tell a friend or even keep a journal and write down what u need to talk about.
just remember shes only 12 and I bet she didnt mean to tell your secret!! do dont be imature like her and blab her secrets to get back!
