okay well, you do have a bit of an obsession with spending.
think to yourself before you buy something...
do I really need this?
will I still want this 1 week after I've bought it?
can I use it?
is it something I can use reguarly?
would it make a difference if I didnt buy this?
...ect...questions like that.
right now you feel the urge to spend money you have on things you want, not need. just because you have all this money to spend.
but I bet half of the things you buy, you regret right after.
so make sure its something that can be used more than once.

Like any addiction, you have to avoid your weakness. Don't go to the mall if you're a compulsive spender.

You also have to recognize you have a problem (which you have) and desire to change (which you do).

Next, when you find yourself in the throws of temptation, rather than fantasizing about how happy you will be with your new purchase, think back about what you bought the last time. Did it fulfill you like you thought it would? If you can manage to insert reality into your expectations, you'll be less likely to give in.

Next, try to find active reasons NOT to consume so much. How much damage did the manufacture of the thing your thinking about buying do to this planet? How many cute fuzzy animals died as a result? There are virtually no compulsive spenders who are also environmentalists.

I think I'm going to try opening a savings account (I have a checking w/a debit card) and I'm going to have it required that I keep a certain amount of money in it that I cant touch. my problem is that im always out driving, and everytime I pass a mall I cant resist to go shopping. (I also WORK in a mall...ahh!) I always feel like I need clothes even though I have a ridiculous amount of them. anways thanks for everyones answers =)
