How to speed up my wifi connection?

Hi, my WiFi signal is always hovering between 1 and 2 bar for my computer. Are there any ways that I can increase it without moving my computer closer to my wireless modem?

yeah there are these things you can get that plug into the usb port in your computer. I got one. I forgot what they are called but they work. search them on best buy's website by typing in wireless usb cards or something to that extent.
