For a gun? I don't think silencers are legal...the only reason you'd need it to be silent is if you didn't want anyone to hear the shot. And if that's a concern, you shouldn't be shooting.

I think shooting a dog is not a good training method.
This will make it difficult the dog to learn other tricks later.
Like playing dead.

silencers are NOT illegal is most states. You can usually buy one thru any licenced gun dealer, but you will have to pay a high federal tax on it. I just bought a suppressed/silencer for my walther p22, and paid $600 (200 for the silencer, 400 for the federal tax). Or you can do what I did for a couple years, and crumple up toilet paper and stuff it into a 2 liter bottle. Then cut a one inch hole on the other end, where the bullet will exit the bottle. Or just use a pillow.

The blueprints are already available on the net for those of use bright enough to locate information on our own. If you arent intelligent enough to find the information, you should probably consider a different project.
