How can you make long hair stand straight up?

I have long hair, I know how to straighten it, but I need it to stands up, like in a spiked style, I know I need hair glue/spray or wires. What kind of wires would I have to use?

I'm going to an anime convention very soon so the best answer a.s.a.p....

Hair cement you can get it a sally's

use a ton of hairspray and then straighten your hair pointing upwards. add in a ton of hair cement or mix up Knox gelatin and use that, it'll work really well. finish up with more hairspray. joico ice blast works really well.
