How to get my parents to leave me alone?

Some people that I’m close to have recently passed away, and the way I want to “cope” with it is to spend time alone. I’m not the kind to “talk about my feelings” or give hugs or anything like that. I’m not cold-hearted; I just deal with things differently. however…my parents are constantly pestering me. like today, I came home and my mom was waiting for me at the door to ask how my day was and to give me a big hug and then she started crying. then when my dad got home he asked how I was doing and how my day went. I know they love me and all, and I love them too, and most people would give a lot to have parents like mine, but I just want them to leave me alone!!! they’re driving me insane!!! but I don’t know how to do it politely. I know what I’d like to say, but it’s not what I should say.
And then when I do go to my room and shut my door I can hear them talking about me and that bugs me too. Any suggestions?

You did a good job explaining here, now put that in a loving note to them…I wish you the best !!

I agree with amblessed.

Answer #3

just tell them: I cope with this situation differently then you do. The way I would like to cope with this is to just be left alone. But I don’t want to have to hear you guys talking about me, because that bothers me also. (and then go to your room)

hope that helps.

Answer #4

I agree with all of the above, write them a letter telling them how much you love them and that you cope with things differently than theydo. Their main concern is that you do not harm yourself, this is why they are hovering you, let them know that you would never intentionally hurt yourself. They are afraid this tragedy affected you in a way that you may hurt yourself, telling them how you feel on paper will put them at ease
