How do you get music for your ipod?

I never had an ipod before so I'm new at this...how do you get the music for the ipods...does it cost money???...I know you get it from the internet but how and does it cost are my ?s. oh yeah and I don't want anything from those itune things..lol...thanks so much 4 your help! =)

just go to limewire.com and download it. download watever songs you want and drag them into your itunes library. make sure to keep a folder with the same songs sumwhere on your desktop or else its going to say that your music cant be found. then plug in your ipod and thats it!

When you buy an iPod, you will go to Apple.com to download iTunes (the program that you play your music from) iTunes also has an enormous music store, so you can buy music there which gets added immediately to your music account. If you want to download free music illegally, use Limewire. But be careful with Limewire, there are lots of hackers out there. Also, whatever CDs you have, you can put them on your iTunes.. and that doesn't cost any money at all. iPods are very simple, just plug it in and all the music on your iTunes will be transferred to your iPod in a couple minutes!

Ah I just saw that you said you don't want to use iTunes. Unfortunately I don't know what to tell you. You can use Rhapsody, I'm pretty sure that is compatible with iPods.

IF I DOWNLOAD SONGS FROM LIMEWIRE AND IT'S ILLEGAL AND THEY CATCH ME, WHAT WILL HAPPEN!??!...IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY TO DOWNLOUD IT FOR FREE AND STILL BE LEGAL?

Not that I know of. It's illegal because the money that you would be spending would go towards the band. That's how bands make money. So as far as I know, any kind of free downloading would be illegal. If you are caught, there can be some very expensive fines that you'll have to pay. And I mean VERY.
