How to do a messy bun?

so I have medium, layered hair and I love that messy bun look but I can never get it right. Can anyone tell me how to make a messy bun or any sites that give instructions thanks!

I used to do that with my hair all the time before I cut my hair short...
But basically put your hair into a ponytail but don't put the elastic on fully wrap it once around your hair, then pull the tail back through once more as if you're going to wrap the elastic around once more but don't pull your hair all the way through, instead wrap the elastic around the loops you've made, letting toughs of hair go anywhere they wish.

Basically and more easily said... make half a ponytail and mess it up while wrappign the elastic around...

Ok! If I know the 'look' your going for then I think I can elp. By the way im 14 too! anyways...
1. put hair into a low middle or high pony(which ever you desire).
2. scrunch hair up in one of your hands( like your grabbing a softball but with your hair instead of a ball)
3. put in another hair tie to hold in the scrucnched up messy look.
4. add just a dab(like pea siz amount) of gel to the messy scrunch.
5. If stray hair falls out add just one more thin hair tie and you should be set to go!
