Yes, it is a very good idea. The Visa card is prepaid, so the money is already there. Therefore, you can't go over your limit, miss payments ,etc, which makes your credit worse.

I have bad credit, and no one will give me a credit card either. With a prepaid card, you get the same benifits as a debit card. You decide how much money is on it, and you can't overspend it, like regular debit cards may let you. If you are trying to improve your credit, rent something cheap from a rent a center (like a small tv) . Make the payments on time, or ahead of time if possible. Small purchases like this will raise your credit, without having to pay out lots of $$. Hope this helps!
