How do you rip a dvd onto your computer ?

Does anyone know how to rip a dvd onto a computer ?
I know how to do it with a cd but with a dvd it dosnt do it. So there must be another way of doing it.

Please help !!

have the software
already built into
the computer or buy it
yourself.

Actually, most of DVDs are under protected from being copied. You need some software to rip the content of DVDs out to your computer. This kind of software is normally called DVD ripper. Some of them are free while others need to be paid but with quality guarantee and more technical support.
