Q: How do I find the model number of my Dell?

I know its a dell. but I need to know what the number is. my mom needs to know and I told her I would help. HOW DO I FIND OUT THE MODEL NUMBER OR WHATEVER IT IS CALLED?

A: I would like to find the model number on my Dell computer which is about 15 years old. On the back of the tower it has this label 4ENH2. I need to know the model number so I can add on to my 256k memory more memory. I don't know where and how to ask for more memory chips and get the right chips for my computer. The knowing how to install these memory chips or memory board is another issue. My computer is running so slow Dell is telling me I need more memory to handle the problem. Can my model Dell computer handle more memory since it is an older computer and how much is the limit on memory it can take. I am not computer handy or have the knowlege of computers. So I need your help and please explain to me in simple terms. Where can I go to get more memory chips and do you have any idea what the cost maybe. I am hoping that when adding more memory will speed up my computer response. It takes 30 to 40 seconds to move from screen to screen. Please guide me through my problem issues. Thank you Bob Taylor.

A: You should be able to locate the model number directly on the bottom of the laptop, like Goran said. All computers are different so you just have to look for it. There's usually 3 spots with numbers on the bottom. One should be your Windows or operating system key. The other contains the serial number (s/n). The the third contains the model number among other key numbers. Sometimes it labeled as model # or reg. #. If you can't find the model number on the bottom, but you can locate the serial # go to the manufactuers website and enter the s/n that should bring up the model number and any other information needed. If its the IP address follow Goran's steps and you are good to go.

A: If its the serial number of the computer, there should be a tag on the back or bottom with the numbers you need. But I going to guess that you're looking for a different number I'm going to guess that its the IP address you want. Here's How: 1. Click the Start menu button on the Windows taskbar. 2. Click Run... on this menu. 3. Type cmd in the text box that appears. A command prompt window launches on the desktop. 4. In this command window, type ipconfig /all. Details are shown for each of the computer's network adapters. Computers installed with VPN software or emulation software will possess one or more virtual adapters. 5. The IP Address field states the current IP address for that network adapter. 6. The Physical Address field states the MAC address for that adapter. If this isn't what you're looking for, can you more clearly describe what it is that you need?
