I'm new to the whole birth control thing, but I really really would like being on it, to ensure non pregnantness. lol I'm interested in taking a pill, but I have no clue which one's the best, but I definitely don’t want to gain weight from taking it! Also can you get it without a visit to the doctor? And does it cost a lot? Please any information, tips, suggestions, anything would be so helpful!! Thank You!

Ortho Tricyclin Low is what I take. But keep in mind for it to be effective you must take the pill at the same time EVERY morning. You don't gain much weight on it like you would the shot. The shot makes you gain a lot of weight my sister did. Also the shot makes you miss 2 periods and I personally don't think that's healthy by any means.

Oh I totaly agree! I dont like the idea of missing periods, thats kinda sketch for me! If you dont mind me asking, did you go to the doctor and have to get a prescription to get your pill??

You do not need a doctor for condoms. All other forms of birth control require a doctor. Family doctor, Planned Parenthood's, and free clinics are all sources of the different types, depending on your age and where you live.
Skipping periods is harmless IF the reason for the skips are known and expected. (If you start unexpectedly skipping, it MIGHT be symptomatic of a problem (or a pregnancy) and needs to be checked out.)
If you don't want pills you might be best served by IUD's. The ones in use now are safe and can last up to 10 years - but they must be put in and then removed by a doctor.
