young ones when they're at home from school? The issue we have is that both of us work, so it was very hard to manage everything during that time.

I think you should try to get some other family members to help out, like we did. My sister is pretty good with kids, and she was a life saver over the vacation. Next time, perhaps talk to a few family members in advance, and have them take turns hanging out with your son while he's at home.

Deal with it, next year you will have two to entertain, cut off the tv and teach them to enjoy reading, that worked for me ha ha. also you live in a great climate what about the people who live in adverse weather ? Consider yourself lucky

Well, I assume he is a younger child. Younger children tend to be more competitive right? So it's easy to get them to entertain themselves by making them compete with, themselves. I can't very well explain how, but it also depends on what activities he enjoys doing. If he is artistic then try giving him a picture book and ask him to draw those pictures for you and see If you can beat them. Boys are competitive, very much so. And the word If you can beat me/them or whatever, will get a fire started and get them going for a while.

Since you both work you might want to get a low-pay babysitter who would keep him entertained and safe. Otherwise you'll have to deal with his behavior. Try looking at parenting tips based off google's search engine.
